Biograd
Biograd is well known as a tourist center. As croatian town it is mentioned in the written documents in 10. and 11. century as the seat of the croatian kings of the time.
It is situated near the Split and Zadar airport, along the main tourist road. Biograd today absorbs it's life strenght out of the beauty of the town itself, along with the natural attractions, by which it is surrounded. All that makes Biograd an attractive destination for holidays in beautiful nature surroundings.
Biograd is the Croatian crowning town and it was the seat of Croatian kings and bishops in th 11. cent. Back in 1102 Croatian-hungarian king Coloman was first crowned here. Several beautiful sacral edifices stand still as witnesses of it's rich and long history: parisch church of St.Anastasia (1761), early Romanesque church of St.Anthony's ( 13 cent.), church of St.Rocco's ( 16 cent. )
For those who are interested to find out some more of it's turbulent history, You can pay a visit to the County Museum, that is during the summer open for the public eye even in the evening hours. |
