Excursions National Park Krka
National park Krka extends over the area surrounding the river Krka. It wells north-east 3 km away from Knin and flows through the steep and pictoresque canyon 75 km long. The river forms fascinating waterfalls named Krčić, Risnjak, Miljacka, Roški Slap ( 26 m high ) and widely known Skradinski Buk ( so called Krka Waterfalls, complex of waterfalls and the largest calcite barriers in the whole of Europe - 46 m high )
During it's flowth, the river Krka cuts through the Lake of Prukljan and thereafter it flows into the 9 km long Bay of Šibenik. In that area there are two of the most important monuments of cultural and historical value – the Catholic Monastery of the Franciscan order called „Visovac“ and Orthodox monastery „Krka“.
At it's way towards the sea Krka flows nearby many beautiful villages, among which the town of Skradin is the most impressionable one.

Biograd
Biograd is very well known tourist center. Moreover it has it's historical importance, too. Namely, it was first mentioned in the written documents as a Croatian coastal town in X and XI century and the crowning place of Croatian kings.
Biograd today is situated in the middle of the road between two airports - Zadar and Split, and on the main tourist coastal road as well. |
