The natural characteristics of the National Park Plitvice, the peculiarity and sensibility of that unique natural phenomenon surely deserve visitor's special attention. People from all over the world come here year after year making both active holidays or just enjoy in it's astounding beauty, variety of shapes and coloursin any season of the year. The whole area is in fact a particular geological and hydrogeological karst phenomen. The area of National Park cosists of sequence of 16 stepwise aligned larger and several smaller lakes, divided from each other by the calcite barriers. They rather young in geological sense, emerged in the last 10 000 years, during the favourable climatic and geologocal period for it's emergence. Throughout the whole area of the Park there are deep woods, and some of those are indeed prime forests protected by the state as the Reservate of the Wood Vegetation ( „Ćorkova Uvala“). National Park Plitvice stands proudly in the UNESCO's list of the world natural heritage.
Biograd
BiogradBiograd is very well known tourist center. Moreover it has it's historical importance, too. Namely, it was first mentioned in the written documents as a Croatian coastal town in X and XI century and the crowning place of Croatian kings. Biograd today is situated in the middle of the road between two airports - Zadar and Split, and on the main tourist coastal road as well.
